The scene opens to the living room of the Rainier Mansion, where the body of the Rainier’s beloved maid, Coralee, is found lying in a pool of blood from an apparent stabbing. Camille Rainier is the first to arrive and find her.

Oh my God! Coralee! (Screams in disbelief.)

(The screaming brings Celestia and Arianna running down the stairs where they were studying in their bedrooms.)

What’s all the commotion, mother? (Looks on the floor to notice Coralee lying in a pool of her own blood.) Oh my God! What happened?

(Crying.) Who did this to her?

Girls, did you two hear or notice anything?

No mother, I was studying upstairs.

Yeah,me too.

Who would do this to Coralee? She was a good lady. She never did anything to anyone.

(Takes cell out of her pocket) Yes, this Camille Rainier, and I need to report an apparent stabbing at my home, 777 Cherrywood Heights.

Okay, Mrs. Rainier. The police are on their way.

Thank you. (Closes the cell.) Girls, come here. (Celestia and Arianna walk over to their mother, where they all hug each other for comfort.)

I can’t believe Coralee’s dead. I’m going to miss her.

How could anyone do this to her?

I know girls; Coralee was one of the family.

(A knock on the door and Camille goes to answer it. It is Jerry and Jimmy Banks, Spirit’s Rain resident detectives.)

(Opening the outer door.) Oh, hello guys. Just follow me. The body’s in the living room.

(The Banks brothers, Jerry and Jimmy, follow Camille to the body.)

(To Camille.) Did you know the victim?

Yes, her name is Coralee Cranston, our family maid.

Do you know anything about how this may have happened?

No, I was coming home from my volunteer work, when I saw her lying here in a pool of blood.

(Arianna and Celestia enter the living room with the crime scene unit.)

Mother, these gentlemen are here about Coralee?

(Jerry and Jimmy fill in the crime scene investigators on what they have found before they arrived. As CSI are investigating, Jerry and Jimmy continue to ask questions of Celestia and Arianna.)

(To Celestia and Arianna.) Girls, do you know anything about this?

No, I don’t. I was upstairs studying for my test for school tomorrow when I heard my mother scream.

(After Jerry motions to her.) I didn’t hear anything until I heard Celestia run from her bedroom. I ran out to see what was going on.

Okay, girls, Mrs. Rainier, that’s about it. We’re going to let the CSI do their job. If you remember anything, give us a call.

We’ll do, Jerry.

(Jerry and Jimmy leave while the CSI investigates the scene of the murder just as Seth, II arrives home.)

What the hell is going on here?

(Teary-eyed.) Oh, Seth, Coralee has just been murdered. I came home and found her stabbed in the back and lying in a pool of blood.

What?! Who the hell would murder our maid?

I don’t know, Seth. Jerry and Jimmy have been here as well as the CSI. I’ve been answering questions ever since they got here.

(While Seth, II and Camille are discussing what just happened in their living room, Jackson Levitt, is lurking outside the living room window, spying the scene inside.)

Well, Seth, old buddy, looks like you got some trouble. I wonder who killed your maid?

(Jackson flashes to earlier this afternoon when he let himself in looking for Seth, II. Jackson had just gotten back from the sanitarium, where Marissa, his wife, has been since their third child, Rhia was an infant. Jackson had hopes that Marissa was getting better, but the doctors said that Marissa would never come out of it. Fuming, Jackson blamed Seth for Marissa’s depression and catatonic state. Jackson was looking for Seth at the Rainier mansion, when he ran into Coralee instead. Wanting to hurt Seth so bad and knowing how close Coralee was to the family, that’s when Jackson stabbed her several times in the back. Thencasually walked back outside.)

(To himself.) You deserve it, Seth. Wish it could have been someone else, but Coralee is good enough for now. I will make you pay for what you’ve done to Marissa!

(And Jackson leaves the Rainier property.)

(Jackson arrives back home to his own mansion, pours himself a brandy, and sits down at his desk. He remembers when he and Seth were best friends in college until Marissa came into the picture. For Jackson, he was head-over-heels-in-love with Marissa, but she only had eyes for Seth. The trouble is, Seth didn’t see Marissa in that way, she was just a way to get his career off the ground. When Marissa confessed she was pregnant with Seth’s child to Jackson and that Seth would not care about the baby. He seethed at Seth’s actions, but promised Marissa that he would marry her and take care of the baby as his own. So, he and Marissa married and she gave birth to Abby, Seth’s daughter, and never told him. Jackson raised her as his own. And ever since, Jackson and Seth have been arch-rivals as they did anything in their power to destroy each other’s businesses.)

(Jackson was still in his thoughts when daughters Abby and Rhia arrive home.)

(Kisses her father on the forehead.) Hello, Daddy! How was your day?

(Interrupted in his thoughts.) What? Oh, hi there, girls. Guess I was deep in thought.

(Hugs her father.) Sorry to bother you too, Daddy.

How was your day, girls?

It was great, but I have to get ready for a date.

And I have a ton of homework to do.

Well, Abby, have a nice time on your date and Rhia, if you need any help with your homework, I’ll be in my office working on some articles that need some attention.

(Jackson goes to his office as Abby and Rhia goes upstairs so Abby can get ready for her date and Rhia off to study.)

(Meanwhile, back at the Rainier mansion…)

(Still teary-eyed from the day’s events, sees Seth, III come to his bedroom door, after a long day at work.) Oh, Seth! (Runs to hug him.)

Celestia, what is wrong? Why are you crying?

You didn’t hear the news?

About what?

Coralee? She’s been murdered!

What? How did this happen?

Mother came home to find her stabbed several times and lying in a pool of blood in the living room.

Oh my God! I’d better go see mother. How’s she taking it?

Not good. Not good at all!

I’m going to see mother. Are you going to be okay?

Yes, Seth. Go check on mother.

(Celestia goes to her room as Seth, III heads downstairs to find his mother.)

(Calling for his mother.) Mother!

I’m in the kitchen, Seth!

I just heard from Celestia. When did this happen to Coralee?

Just this afternoon. I have been answering questions from the police, the CSI and the Banks brothers all afternoon.

Have they figured out what happened?

No, Jerry and Jimmy left about 10 minutes after they arrived and the CSI left about 2 hours ago after they finished their investigation.

Does dad know?

Yes, he came home while the CSI was conducting their investigation.

(Just then, Seth, II comes in the kitchen after hearing voices from his office.)

Camille, you in there?

Yes, dear. Seth just got home and I was filling him in on what happened.

It’s a damn shame what happened to Coralee. Has anyone called her family?

Oh dear, in all the commotion, I forgot to let her family know. I think I will go call them.

(Camille leaves for her bedroom as she prepares to call Coralee’s family about her death.)

Well, son, how about you and I prepare some dinner for your mother and sisters?

Sure, dad.

(As father and son prepare the meal for the family, scene fades out.)

(Back at the Spirit’s Rain University dorm, Cody Wilson is talking on his cell about what is going to happen to Seth, II. Cody is at the University not just to study architecture, but to get revenge on Seth, II for abandoning his mother, Tamara Wilson. Cody just learned that Seth Rainier, II is his father from his mother.)

I want a bouquet sent to the office of Seth Rainier, II with a note on the card to read: “You’ll pay for abandoning your child!”…Okay, got that, ma’am?…Just put the amount on my tab, give yourself a $5 tip, and have a great day!

(Cody hangs up the phone and thinks about his revenge he is going to get on his new-found father.)

(The next day, Cody sees Seth, II from his Trigonometry class speaking with a girl. He walks up to them and introduces himself.)

Hey, Seth, who’s the good-looking girl?

Oh, hey, Cody! This is Abby Levitt, the girl-next-door, and my neighbor. We’ve known each other since we were children.

(Smiles at Cody.) Hi!

Nice to meet you!

Well, boys, I’ve got a class to get to. See ya both later. (Runs to her next class.)

Nice girl. (Eying Abby as she walks to her next class.)

Yeah, she is.

You two dating?

We hang out, if that’s what you’re asking.

Say, I’m having a party at my dorm tonight, if you and Abby want to come by.

Sure, Cody. I’ll ask Abby if she would like to come by.

Well, gotta run! See ya tonight, maybe! (Waves good-bye and leaves, leaving Seth, III alone.)

(Scene fades out.)

(The Banks Brothers, Jerry and Jimmy, show up on Jackson’s door to ask questions about The Rainier’s maid, Coralee’s murder.)

Mr. Levitt, do you mind if we come in and ask a few questions of you?

Sure, what about?

Well, your neighbors, The Rainiers, just had their maid, Coralee, murdered in their living room, yesterday.

Oh my, that’s terrible. How are they doing?

They’re a bit shaken up, especially Mrs. Rainier.

I’m sorry to hear that. What did you two need to ask me?

Did you hear anything unusual yesterday?

No, I didn’t. … I was here in the mansion all day. I didn’t even leave the property once.

Do you have an alibi?

No, sorry. The two girls were at school and Terry was at work yesterday. I let the maid and butler off for the day. I was all alone yesterday.

Well, then you know that you will be a suspect in this murder until further notice. Don’t leave town until this murder is solved.

Yes sir, I don’t intend to.

We’ll be by later, or tomorrow to speak to your children about what they know. Thank you, Mr. Levitt.

I’m glad to be of help.

Mr. Levitt, if you do remember anything, please call the office and let us know.

I will do that, boys.

(Jerry and Jimmy leave the Levitt mansion and Jackson snickers after they leave.)

(To himself.) Too bad you boys will never know who really killed that maid. Poor Seth won’t even know what hit him.

(Scene fades out.)

(Cody spots Abby in her English class at the University and sits down next to her.)

Hello Beautiful.

(Looking up from reading her Physics reading.) Hello!

Whatcha reading beautiful?

Just my reading assignment in Physics,

Sounds interesting.

Kinda confusing. I do not understand it too well.

Would you like to go out with me tonight? I could help you with your Physics?

Yeah, sure. I guess.

Great! Pick you up at 7:00?

Yeah. (Abby writes down her address so Cody can pick her up at her house.)

(Cody says good bye and lets Abby get to her next class.)

(Cody is seen at Seth’s dorm to let him know that he got a date with Abby, but Seth wasn’t there. This was going to be the start of his revenge on Seth II and Seth III; date Abby Levitt; but little does Cody know that he is dating his own sister as Abby is Seth II’s daughter by Marissa from their college days; Jackson raised her as his own.)

(Abby is getting ready for her date with Cody as Rhia comes in to talk to her.)

(Knocks on Abby’s bedroom door.) Abby, are you there?

Come in Rhia.

(opens the door to come in.) Abby, do you have a minute?

Sure Rhia, whats up?

I’ve got a problem. (She looks to Abby for comfort.)

What’s wrong?

I failed a test miserably and I’m afraid Dad will be upset with me.

Oh, Rhia! Dad won’t be upset. Just explain to him what happened. I’m sure he’ll understand.

(Sounding uneasy.) You sure?

Of course. Now run along dear and tell Dad your problem. I have to get ready for this date, or I will be late.

(Hugs Abby.) Thank you Abby. I love you sis.

(Rhia leaves Abby to get ready for her date with Cody and runs off to tell her Dad her problem.)

(Cody picks up Abby at her house for their study date. He promised he would help her with her Physics assignment, but he had other things on his mind.)

(Greets Cody at the front door) Hi. Just got to get my study materials.

That’s okay, dear. How about some dinner at Connie’s before studying?

Sure, I’m kinda famished.

Okay, then dinner it is!

(Cody takes Abby to dinner. Cody is helping Abby into the car after their dinner when he grabs her from behind and holds her nose with a rag dabbed in chloroform. Abby passes out in Cody’s arms. Cody sits Abby upright in the passenger seat of his car. Then Cody dials a number on his cell.)

Mother, I have her. What would you like me to do next?

Bring her to me.

Yes, Mother.

I need to start the next step in our plan to trap Seth II.

(Cody hangs up and gets in his car and starts the ignition and is on his way to his mother’s house. When Cody arrives at his mother’s house, he picks up Abby and from the front passenger seat and carries her into his mother’s house.)

Mother, I’m home!

(Walking in off screen) Oh great Cody, dear! Take her upstairs and lay her on the bed where I set it up for her. Stay up there and keep an eye on her until I tell you to come down.

Yes, mother.

(Tamara waits until Cody is upstairs with Abby before she takes out her cell to call Seth II. She doesn’t want Cody to know that Abby is really Seth II’s daughter, and that Jackson Levitt raised her as his own.)

Hello, who is this?

Seth, it’s me, Tamara.

Tamara? Tamara who?

Tamara Wilson. You remember me. From our college days?

(Seth’s college days come flooding back to him.)

Tamara, so nice to hear from you. What did you want?

I have your daughter here.

My daughter? Which one? Arianna? Celestia? What have you done with her?

Not those two. Your other daughter?

What do you mean, Tamara? I only have two daughters.

Wrong, my dear Seth. You have another daughter. Abby Levitt. Your first daughter. With Marissa.

What are talking about? Abby Levitt is Jackson Levitt’s daughter.

I’m sorry. Weren’t you told the truth? Did your sweet Marissa neglect to tell you she was pregnant with your child when you broke her heart for Camille?

Marissa was pregnant? With my child? I never knew.

Yes, dear Seth. Jackson raised Abby as his own all this time. And your sweet Marissa has been in a mental hospital ever since she gave birth to Jackson’s youngest daughter, Rhiannon. I hear Jackson has never forgiven you for Marissa going into the hospital.

What do you want, Tamara?

I want you to acknowledge Cody as your son.

Who is Cody?

Cody is my son, Seth. Your son. The result of our one-night of passion before you ended our fling and married Camille.

Let me get this straight. If I announce Cody as my son, you won’t expose Abby Levitt as my daughter?

That’s right. Because if this gets out, Jackson will be devastated. He doesn’t want you to know Abby is your daughter.

Why doesn’t Jackson want me know Abby is my daughter?

He blames you for Marissa being institutionalized. He murdered your maid, Coralee.

How do you know it was Jackson that murdered Coralee?

I told him to do it. We wanted payback for what you did to us back in college.

And what if I go to Jerry and Jimmy and tell them all this?

If you do, I’ll expose our little fling right before your engagement to Camille and tell everyone that not only is Abby Levitt is your daughter, but that Cody Wilson is your son as well. Do you want your sweet Camille finding out you have two illegimate children?

No. I’ll have the papers drawn up with my attorney to have Cody in my will.

Thank you, Seth. I knew you would see things my way. Have a nice night. Talk to you later, Seth.

(Tamara hung up her cell before Seth II could get a last word in. Tamara laughed maniacally now that she had Seth Rainier, II right where she had him. She couldn’t believe that Seth was stupid enough to believe the lie she just told him. He actually believed her when she told him she had Jackson Levitt kill his beloved maid Coralee. She wondered what he would do if he knew her real secret?)

(Scene fades out.)

Episode 4

(Tamara knocks on Cody’s door.)

Cody, may I come in?

Yes, mother, the door is open.

I just want to thank you for your part in this scheme to get revenge on Seth,

What did Seth Rainier do to deserve this revenge, mother?

You wouldn’t understand, son.

Mother, I hated lying to Abby, pretending to be a student and asking her for a date.

I know dear. But it had to be done.

Mother, you know I’m gay.

Yes, Cody, I know that. But I can’t let Seth know that.

Why, Mother? Why can’t Seth or anyone know that I’m gay?

Because Seth Rainier is your father, and he wouldn’t understand that he has a gay son. He knows your his son, but he doesn’t know that you are gay.

Seth Rainier is my father? I’m glad you told me Mother, because I was developing feelings for his son, Seth, III.

But Seth III isn’t gay is he?

I don’t know Mother, I never got the chance to ask him. Now I don’t have to, since he is my half-brother.

Yes, it is a good thing to know that.

Well, Mother, I have to get to work at the TV station. I am supposed to be covering the murder of Coralee Cranston today.

Okay son, have a nice day.

(Scene fades out.)

(Seth II is confused by Tamara’s news that Cody is their son. But he can’t believe that Jackson was responsible for murdering Coralee. He goes to Jackson’s mansion to confront him.)

(Jackson’s manservant answers the door to Seth II and ushers him inside the foyer and directs Seth to the sitting room, where Jackson joins him shortly.)

Seth, what can I do for you?

I have news that you killed my maid Coralee?

Really, Seth, do you really think I killed Coralee?

I don’t know, Jackson. I got some very unsettling news last night.

Well, I am not responsible for the death of Coralee. I don’t know who told you I was but they’re obvioiusly delusional.

So you’re positive you didn’t kill Coralee?

Yes, The Banks Brothers already questioned me and I was cleared of any suspicion.

Well, thanks Jackson. I know you and I have had our issues, but I know you wouldn’t kill Coralee.

Yes, we certainly have had our problems, haven’t we?

(Scene fades out as Seth leaves Jackson’s mansion.)

(Cody arrives at the TV station ready to start on his story, but is told that he is redirected on another story.)

Cody, I’ve moved you to another story. You’re not doing the Coralee Cranston murder anymore.

What story am I on?

We just got word that Abigail Levitt has been missing since last night. We want you on the case.

Me. You want me on the case of the missing Levitt girl.

Yes, Cody.

Okay. But I don’t know what good I can do?

You’ll do your job and get to the truth of the abduction.

Thanks, for your confidence. I’ll do what I have to do.

We know you will, Cody.

(As the Producer leaves Cody, Cody has a weird feeling, knowing he was the one who abducted Abby on his Mother’s, Tamara Wilson’s, orders.)

(Reaching in his pocket for his cell, Cody’s dials his Mother’s number.)

Hello, Cody.

Mother, we have a problem?

What is it, son?

They took me off the Coralee murder case.

I am now on the case of the Abby Levitt abduction.

Oh, my, son. I’m so sorry.

What do I do now, Mother? I am the one who abducted her on your orders.

I’ll get back to on that. I’ll figure something out. Don’t worry, son.

I hope so. My job could be at risk if they find out I abducted Abby Levitt.

They won’t find out it was you. I’ll make sure of that.

I trust you Mother. I trust you to fix this. I’m not going to prison for this.

You won’t dear.

(Cody hangs up with his Mother.)

Episode 5

(Cody shows up at Seth II’s office looking for work so he can get the scoop on his father.)

May I help you?

I’m here to see Mr. Rainier.

Just one moment. I’ll buzz him. Whom shall I say is asking for him?

Cody Wilson.

(Pushes button on intercom on her desk.)

Mr. Rainier, a Cody Wilson is here to see you?

Send him in immediately.

Right away, Mr. Rainier.

(Receptionist turns to Cody.)

You may go on in, Mr. Wilson.

Thank you, ma’am.

(Cody walks inside Seth II’s office.)

Mr. Rainier, we need to talk.

Yes, my son, we do.

I was looking for a job with your firm.

Yes, I’ve heard you are a really good photojournalist. I need someone to take photos and write articles of my buildings.

Well, Mr. Rainier, I’m your man.

You’re hired. I have some buildings that are finished in Paris. I will need you to fly out and get the story on them.

Yes, sir.

When you check in in the morning, my receptionist will have all your flight details for you.

Thank you, Mr. Rainier. You don’t know how much this means to me.

(Cody leaves Seth II’s office and immediately dials his mother’s cell.)

Mother, it’s done. I got the job as Seth II’s photojournalist.

Well done, my son.

I have to fly to Paris on assignment for Mr. Rainier in the morning.

Oh, great, Cody.

I won’t see you until I get back.

Well, have a nice trip, Cody.

(To herself) Things are working according to plan. Soon, I will have Seth II right where I have him.

Episode 6

(dialing Seth II’s number in her cell.) Well, Seth, what’s your answer?

I want a DNA test first before I accept Cody as my son.

Very well, Seth. I knew you would want one, so I have a piece of Cody’s hair down at the lab. All you have to do is provide a sample of your DNA to lab.

I’ll go in at lunch then.

Thank you SETH.

Just tell me one thing, Tamara? Why did you keep me in the dark about Cody?

Well, Seth, you had just dumped me for Camille when I found out I was pregnant. I didn’t want to ruin your marriage to Camille.

Still, you didn’t see to it to inform me? I would have stepped up and been responsible for his care.

I’m sorry, Seth. I don’t know what to say?

Well, it’s done now. If Cody is my son, I will do whatever he wishes since he is an adult.

Thank you, Seth. … Oh, I’m sorry Seth, I have a call coming in. I need to go now. I’ll keep you in touch of anything.

(Tamara hangs up with Seth II and answers the other call.)

So, Tamara, did you get the money from Seth II?

There’s been a slight glitch.

What do you mean a glitch?

Seth wants a DNA test before he will accept Cody as his son.

A DNA test?! Tamara, you know Cody isn’t his son!

I know, Alek. That’s why I have to fake it somehow.

It better work, Tamara. If you know what is good for you.

It will, Alek. It will.

If Seth II is on to us, I will expose you as the killer of Coralee Cranston, and that you got Jackson Levitt drunk and framed him for the murder.

Seth II doesn’t have a clue about any of this. Just take a chill pill. I’ll get the money for you.

I need out of this cell, and I need out now!

Yes, Alek……..

(The cell lost connection when the prison guard came in to the visitor center and told Alek his time was up.)

Episode 7

(Tamara shows up at Seth’s office to confront him about Cody’s paternity.)

I’m here to see Mr. Rainer.

I’ll give him a call.

(Receptionist dials Seth Rainier’s extension.)

Mr. Rainer, a Tamara is here to see you?

Send her in. I have a few minutes to spare.

You may go in.

(Tamara heads into Seth’s office.)

I have the DNA results you wanted.

(Tamara hands Seth the paper regarding the DNA of her son, Cody, as Seth looks it over.)

Well, it appears everything is right. Cody is my son.

Well, I told you he was.

Well, a man in my position can’t take this too lightly.

I can’t believe you think I’d lie about your child?

I didn’t say that!

I know. You have a family. A wife. Children. Or should I say…heirs?

I’ll make the necessary accommodations for Cody.

Meaning he’ll be put in your will? Don’t bother.

(Tamara storms out Seth’s office in a huff, nearly knocking the receptionist on her butt as she was bringing in Seth’s tea.)

(Meanwhile, Cody is working taking photos of Seth’s designs for a printout for Architecture Design Seth will be featured in as architect of the year, when Abby shows up looking for him.)

Cody, I thought we had lunch plans?!

Omigosh! I forgot about the time!

That’s okay babe. Can you get away any time soon?

(Abby coaxes him with kiss on the lips.)

I don’t think Mr. Rainier will mind if I take a small break.

Great! I’ll wait for you in the lobby.

I’ll just put my camera away and meet out there.

I can’t wait!

(Abby exits while Cody puts his camera away to join Abby for a lunch date.as the scene exits out.)

He can’t believe how nobody pays attention to him except to bully and make fun of him. Well, he is tired of everyone making fun of him, and he intends to make them sorry for all the cruel jokes they have all played on him.

Marshall pulls Tanya to the the side of the hallway where no one can see them as he gives Tanya a heartfelt kiss.

“Gee, I’m so glad you’re alright!” Marshall tells Tanya.

“I’m so glad you found me when you did. I really thought I was going to die.”

“I wasn’t going to give up until I found you. I don’t know what I’d do if I lost you.”

“You really like me?”

“I think I’m starting to fall in love with you, Tanya.”

“But what about Khrystyna?”

“She’s in the past. Besides, she’s got Tyler. She just doesn’t know it yet.”

Tanya wraps her arms around Marshall and plants a big kiss on his lips. She doesn’t want this moment to end, ever. But, alas, Khrystyna is saddened when she spies Marshall in a warm embrace with Tanya.

Thinking to herself, “That should be me, Marshall is kissing. Dammit, Tanya, why do you always ruin everything for me?”

Just then, Tyler comes from behind Khrystyna, startling her.

“Dammit, Tyler, what do you want!?”

“Just wondering what you are doing?”

“Hey, Khrys, will you have dinner with me tonight?”

“Uh, gee, Tyler, I’m kinda busy tonight.”

“O. K. Never mind then.” Tyler says, looking sullen.

Khrystyna walks off to her class by herself as Tyler tells himself that he will find a way to get Khrystyna to fall for him.

Chapter 4

Jerry is working on his project for the next dance, the-end-of-year dance, when Khrystyna sees him sitting all alone during lunch hour.

“Hello, Jerry. How are you doing?” Khrystyna says, sitting down next to him.

“Ah, hello, Khrystyna.” Jerry replies, caught off-guard.

“What you working on?”

“Just a special project.”

“Can I see it?”

Jerry quickly closes his notebook, not noticing an important sheet of paper that has fallen on the floor by Khrystyna’s foot.

“No, thanks, Khrystyna. Besides, I just noticed I’m late for an appointment with the counselor.”

Jerry quickly rushes off leaving Khrystyna alone. She notices the piece of paper that fell from Jerry’s notebook, picks it up and is shocked as to what she sees on it. She can’t believe what Jerry has planned for the end-of-the-year-dance. She notices Tyler sitting down at a table alone with his lunch tray. She goes over to him to let him know what she found out.

“Hi, Tyler.”

“What do you want, Khrys?!”

“I need to talk to you. It’s important.”

“Yeah, it always is! Go away, Khrys! I’m tired of you always pushing me away!”

Tyler starts to leave as Khrystyna blurts out her next message.

“But, Tyler! I know who was behind the explosion the night of the prom.”

Curious, Tyler turns back around.

“Yeah, who do you think it was?”

“Jerry Chandler.”

“Why, pray tell, do you think it’s him?”

“Because of all the bullying he’s suffered by us all. Look at this!” She shows him the piece of paper that fell from Jerry’s notebook.

Tyler looks at it, stunned. “I don’t believe this. You say this came from Jerry’s notebook?’

“Yes. What do we do?”

“Can I borrow this, Khrys?”

“Sure, but what are you going to do with it?”

“I’ve got to show this to someone.”

“Thanks, Khrys. You may have just saved the dance. Gotta go.”

Khrystyna watches as Tyler rushes out of the school lunchroom, curious as to what he is up to.

As soon as Tyler is out of earshot, he calls Jon and tells him what Khrystyna found, and they arrange for a meeting to discuss what to do.

Chapter 5

After leaving Khrystyna, Tyler immediately goes to Jon’s home to show him the note that Khrystyna found. Tyler arrives at Jon’s and knocks on his door.

Jon comes to the door and seeing that it is Tyler, opens it. “Oh hi Tyler.”

“Jon, we have a slight problem with the plans.”

“What could that be, Tyler?” Jon asks, a little perturbed.

“I think I know who it was that caused the explosion the night of the prom.”

Tyler shows the note that Khrystyna showed him from Jerry.

“So, that little punk is the reason for all this. Well, Jerry Chandler is not going to get away with this!”

“What’s wrong, Jon?”

“Jerry is the reason why we couldn’t bring Tanya down. We need to have a talk with Jerry.”

Jon brings out his cell from his pocket and dials Jerry’s number. Jerry picks up on the second ring.

“Hello?” Jerry asks, answering his cell.

“Jerry…this is Jon. We need to talk. Like right now. When can you get over here?”

“Oh, hi Jon. I can be right over in about about ten minutes.”

“Good. Make it quick.”

Jon hangs up his cell. Turning to Tyler, “Jerry will be here in a few and we’ll get to the bottom of this.”

As they wait for Jerry to arrive at Jon’s home, the town is rocked by another explosion at the town deli.

Chapter 6

Jerry arrived at Jon’s home where Tyler and Khrystyna were waiting for him. They wanted an explanation about his plot to ruin the end-of-the-year dance.

“Yeah. Jerry.” Jon said. “We need you to answer some questions for us?”

“Sure, what about?”

“Khrystyna found your note that suggested you had a plot to ruin the end-of-the-year dance?” Jon accused.

“That piece of paper isn’t mine.” Jerry said dodging the accusations against him.

“But it fell from your backpack as you were leaving the courtyard yesterday.” Khrystyna mentioned.

“Oh, I can explain.” Jerry said as he thought of a reason to get out of the accusations they were accusing him of. “My friend, Tim, gave this to me as a joke.”

“So, you’re trying to tell me that this piece of paper is just a cruel joke by you and your friend?” Jon said angrily.

“Yeah, man!” Jerry defended himself. “Do you think I could actually do something like this?”

“Well, you do have a point.” Jon said as the others nodded in agreement.

“So, am I free to go?” Jerry asked.

“Yeah, sure. Go!” Jon said.

Jerry left as fast as he could go. He narrowly escaped their accusations. It was a good thing they were all so dense that they believed his story…the idiots! They actually think he would be that stupid as not to have the knowledge to plan a plot to ruin the end-of-the-year dance? Well, it served all of them right for believing his story. They would see by the end of year!

The $Billion Dollar Promise

Alisha Thompkins falls head-over-heels in love with the new guy, Hadley Jamison, at school. But due to competition from her best friend, Chelsea Grimes, Alisha does the only thing she knows and backs down. As Hadley and Chelsea grow closer, Alisha watches from the sidelines. But when a tragic accident injures Hadley, he makes a request from Alisha, that leaves Chelsea on the sidelines. Will
Alisha agree to Hadley’s request, or turn him down?

Chapter 1
“Alisha!” Mrs. Thompkins calls through Alisha’s bedroom door. “It’s time to get up for school!”
“Yes, mom, I know.” Alisha replies back. “I’m up getting ready!”
As Mrs. Thompkins heads back downstairs to begin breakfast for her husband and Alisha and her brother, Ellis, Alisha gets herself out of bed and dresses in the clothes she picked out last night for the first day of her sophomore year: a calf-length black skirt, pink sweater, and gold necklace. Then she heads into the bathroom to style her long brown tresses in curls.
Heading downstairs, Alisha joins her brother, father and mother for a family breakfast before they all go off to school and work. Mrs. Thompkins always insisted they enjoy a family breakfast before anything else, if it was the only meal they had as a family for the day. And that’s exactly what the Thompkins family always did.
“Good morning, father!” Alisha said, giving her father a kiss on his cheek.
“Good morning Alisha. How did you sleep?” Mr. Thompkins asked her.
“Just great.”
“Yeah, I’ll bet!” Ellis said, sarcastically. “Just who is it that you will have your eye on this year?”
“Oh shut up, Ellis!” Alisha said bitterly.
“Alisha! Ellis!” Mrs. Thompkins chastised them both. “Alisha, as the older daughter, I expect you to treat your brother with kindness. And Ellis, please don’t goad your sister.”
“Yes, mother.” Alisha and Ellis said simultaneously.
“Now apologize to each other.”
“Sorry, Alisha.” Ellis said, obeying his mother.
“Yea, I’m sorry too.” Alisha reciprocated.
As the Thompkins Family finished their breakfast, Mr. Thompkins got up, kissed his wife and wished his family a good day before picking up his briefcase and heading to Bradford and Thompkins, Attorneys at Law, where Mr. Thompkins was a partner in his firm he operated with his long-time friend and college buddy.
“Good morning, Chelsea.” Mr. Thompkins greeted Chelsea, who came to pick up Alisha for their first day of their sophomore year.
“Hi, Chelsea.” Alisha greeted her, who had just said good-bye to Ellis and her mother before following her father out the door.
“I can’t wait to get to school.” Chelsea said, enthusiastically.
“You mean you can’t wait to get your fix on some hot-looking guy.” Alisha said, knowing her best friend so well.
“Isn’t that the only reason for going to class?” Chelsea asked the rhetorical question.
Alisha disagreed, but kept quiet. Chelsea was only interested in meeting guys, whereas Alisha was interested in her studies. She wished to be a lawyer just like her father. She loved going to her father’s practice and watching him work with his clients and sitting in the courtroom as he defended clients he knew were guilty. The legal system has always fascinated Alisha and made it her life’s choice to be a lawyer one day.
As Chelsea pulled into Fairview High School’s parking lot, blond-haired, Hadley Jamison, noticed the girls as Chelsea parked her Jeep Wrangler.
Chapter 2
“Wow! Who’s the hot guy!” Chelsea exclaimed as she and Alisha were getting out of her Jeep.
“Chelsea!” Alisha chided her bestie.
“Oh, c’mon, Ali.” Chelsea responded back, referring to Chelsea’s nickname for Alisha. “Don’t act so modest. You know you were looking too.”
“Well, he is hot!” Alisha admitted, not letting on that she had the major hots for the new guy in school.
As Alisha and Chelsea walked together to their lockers to get ready for class, the new guy, Hadley Jamison, noticed the two girls and gave them a wink. Alisha felt butterflies in her stomach when Hadley looked their way.
Alisha and Chelsea went their separate ways as Chelsea had English first period and Alisha had Algebra. When Alisha walked into her Algebra class, she was surprised to see Hadley, looking as studly as ever before she and Chelsea had seen in the school parking lot.
Hadley noticed Alisha too and walked to the desk next to her.
“Well, hello!” Hadley greeted Alisha. “The name’s Hadley.”
“Alisha.” Alisha said, introducing herself.
“Is this class hard?” Hadley asked a nervous Alisha.
“No, Mr. Wilson is easy-going.” Alisha offered.
“Good, because to tell you the truth, I’m not that good at Algebra.” Hadley admitted.
“Oh? If you ever need help with any of the assignments, I could offer some help.” Alisha offered.
“I may take you up on your offer.” Hadley said, smiling at her.
Mr. Wilson called the class to order as students settled into their seats. Hadley was getting bored with the day’s lesson as Alisha could very well tell by watching him. As Alisha found herself looking at Hadely, she didn’t realize Mr. Wilson calling on her to answer a question.
“Pssst.” Hadely said, nudging Alisha. “The teacher is calling on you.”
Embarrassed that she was paying more attention to Hadley than to what was being taught in class, Alisha looked up immediately to the board as Mr. Wilson pointed to the blackboard for Alisha to solve.
Hadley watched as Alisha walked to the front of the class to solve the problem. Alisha didn’t know what was wrong with her. It was not like her to ogle guys. But there was just something about Hadley Jamison that intrigued her.
Chelsea was waiting outside Alisha’s Algebra class and happened to notice the guy that she and Alisha had seen in the school parking lot while waiting for her best friend.
“OMG!” Chelsea exclaimed. “You are so lucky to have that in your homeroom!”
“Yea.” Alisha said shyly, not wanting to admit her crush on Hadley Jamison.
“What’s his name?” Chelsea asked her bestie.
“His name is Hadley Jamison.” Alisha replied to her friend.
“You so have to introduce me to him.” Chelsea told Alisha.
“Well, when we see him again, I will.”
But Chelsea didn’t have long to wait as Hadley walked over to Alisha.
“So, who’s your friend?” Hadley asked Alisha.
“This is my best friend, Chelsea Grimes.” Alisha introduced Chelsea to Hadley.
“Glad to meet you.” Hadley said to Chelsea, as he winked at her, making Alisha a little jealous.
“Me too.” Chelsea said, batting her eyelashes at him.
“So, you two want to meet me in the cafeteria for lunch?”
“We’d be glad to!” Chelsea agreed for the two of them.
“Great! I’ll see you two at lunch!” Hadley said as he headed for his biology class.
Chapter 3
Alisha was sitting alone at lunch waiting for Chelsea and Hadley to arrive as agreed. She wanted to run away when she saw Hadley and Chelsea holding hands as they entered the cafeteria, unbeknownst to her that they had already made a first date for later tonight.
Alisha ducked down under the table, hoping Hadley and Chelsea wouldn’t see her, but it was too late. Chelsea came up behind her and sat down, Hadley sitting next to her.
“You two already a couple?” Alisha suggested, hoping they didn’t sense her jealousy.
“Yeah, we have our first date tonight.” Chelsea told her friend. “Hadley called me last night and we are going to The Tasty Freeze tonight for a burger and fries.”
“Oh, I see.” Alisha said with jealousy. “You two are dating?”
“You’re happy for us, aren’t you?” Chelsea asked her friend.
“Yeah. You two make a great couple.”
“Thanks Ali–, I knew you’d approved.”
“Oh, geez, look at the time. I totally forgot I had detention today.” Alisha lied, to make a quick exit because she couldn’t stand to watch Chelsea and Hadley smooching in front of her.
“Oh. You never told me you had detention.” Chelsea said, obviously upset because Alisha always told her everything.
“I’m sorry, Chels—it must’ve slipped my mind.” Alisha said, as she headed off toward the cafeteria doors, leaving Chelsea and Hadley alone.
A call comes in on Hadley’s cell from his mother. Knowing how his mother would react if he ignored her call, Hadley tore himself away from Chelsea’s lips to answer the call.
“Hello, mother.” Hadley said.
“Hadley, there’s been an emergency. Bryan has been in an explosion in Afghanistan!” Hadley’s mother said frantic with worry.
“I’m on my way home!” Hadley said as he hung up and gave Chelsea an apologetic kiss before rushing off in a hurry.
As Hadley got inside his car, started the engine and backed out of the school parking lot, Hadley saw a text come in from Chelsea. Ignoring the warnings from his mother about texting and driving, Hadley picked up his cell and replied back “I will miss you.” As he hit the “send” button, Hadley didn’t see the oncoming car in the other lane as he had swerved into the oncoming lane. Upon impact, Hadley hit the car sending him flying out of his car when the two cars hit.
A passerby who witnessed the accident immediately dialed 9-1-1. Emergency crews arrived within minutes of receiving the passersby’s call, locating Hadley’s body within minutes of arriving at the accident scene and placing him inside the ambulance.
The driver of the other car wasn’t so lucky as emergency crews pronounced the driver dead after several minutes of performing life-saving CPR.

Hadley was just being brought into the ER when his mother arrived at the hospital after receiving a call from the paramedics after they found Hadley’s wallet with his cell in his wallet.
“How is my son?” a Hadley’s mother said frantic with worry as ER staff pushed her out of the way.
“Ma’am, the doctor will let you know as soon as he examines your son.” The nurse tells Hadley’s mother.

The next day, Alisha is sitting in her homeroom class when the bell rings, signaling the start of class. She noticed that Hadley hadn’t arrived for school that morning, when the principal came on the PA system:
“Good morning students! I’m sorry to announce that one of our students, Hadley Jamison, was in an accident yesterday. Let’s all have a few minutes of silence for Hadley’s recovery.”
While the room remained in silence, Alisha couldn’t help but wonder how Chelsea was taking this news, when she heard someone whisper her name from outside her homeroom door.
“Pssst, Alisha!” Chelsea whispered as quietly as she could, but still getting Alisha’s attention without alerting anyone else.
Alisha raised her hand to alert the teacher, “May I use the restroom?”
The teacher motioned for Alisha to go so as not to disturb the moment of silence as Alisha grabbed her books and backpack and walked quietly out of the classroom.
As soon as Alisha got outside of her homeroom, Chelsea burst into tears.
“Chelsea, it’ll be okay.” Alisha tried to reassure her.
“It’s not that.” Chelsea confessed. “I want to go see Hadley at the hospital.”
“Well, why don’t you?”
“I’ve used up all my free passes.” Chelsea cried. “Will you go for me?”
“Please. I need someone to know how Hadley is doing.” Chelsea pleaded with her friend. “You still have your passes.”
“Okay, I’ll do it.” Alisha reluctantly agreed.
“Thanks, Ali.” Chelsea said, feeling relieved.
Alisha obtained her pass to leave the school grounds and exited the school, heading for her car to go see how Hadley was doing. She was in for a shock when she was finally able to see Hadley in his hospital room.
Chapter 4
“Hadley?” Alisha asked when he woke to find her in his room.
“Alisha?” Hadley said a little groggy from the drugs they gave him.
“What is it, Hadley? Alisha asked him.
“I need a favor from you.”
“What is it?” Alisha asked. “Do you want to see Chelsea?”
“No, I don’t!” Hadley said adamantly.
Alisha was taken aback at what Hadley said. “Chelsea is worried about you. Why don’t you want to see her?”
“Because, it’s you I really want!” Hadley confessed.
“I’m sorry, did I hear you right?” Alisha asked, confused.
“It’s you I really want.”
“But Chel…” Alisha started to say, but Hadley interrupted her.
“I don’t want to her!” Hadley said getting irritated with her.
“Okay, what do you want from me?” Alisha asked, feeling awkward.
“I want you to be my girlfriend.” Hadley confessed.
“Hadley, I can’t do that to Chelsea.”
“I will make it worth your while if you agree to be my girlfriend.”
“And how do you propose to do that?”
“If you agree to this, you will be the heiress to my family’s multi-billion-dollar fortune.”
“You think you can make me your wife with the promise of money?” Alisha asked him in disbelief.
“I need to be married by my 18th birthday in order to receive my inheritance.”
“So, why can’t you ask Chelsea?”
“My parents would never approve of Chelsea.” Hadley admitted. “They think she is gold-digger.”
“But you and I both know she isn’t.” Alisha told him.
“I tried to tell my parents that but they wouldn’t listen to me.”
“And what is this supposed to get me?”
“Well, you get the perks of being the wife of an heir to a multi-billion-fortune.”
“So, basically, a trophy wife, while you see Chelsea on the side?”
“Yes, so will you do it?” Hadley asked her again.
“I have to think about it.” Alisha told him. “I have to go.”
Hadley hated asking Alisha for this favor. He wished he had just been killed in the accident, but as luck would have it, he was spared with barely even a scratch. He was just in the hospital for observation for a concussion. Hadley knew his parents would never approve of Chelsea as his wife. That’s why Alisha had to fill the title. All he was going to have with Chelsea was a secret love affair on the side.
Chapter 5
Alisha couldn’t stop thinking about Hadley’s offer: a million dollars to marry him? Be his wife in name only while he saw Chelsea on the side? She could do a lot with a million dollars? Get her degree? It certainly would keep her busy while Hadley was busy with Chelsea? She decided to accept Hadley’s offer. After all, what did she have to lose?
She text Hadley to meet him at the java café to discuss his offer. When she got there, Hadley was with Chelsea. She should have known better. After all, he was in love with Chelsea. Not her.
Hadley looked up to find Alisha next to them, “Alisha, I’m glad you’re here.”
Chelsea was holding Hadley’s hand as Alisha sat next to her.
“I thought Chelsea should hear our discussion. After all, it does concern her too.” Hadley explained.
“Yes, it does.” Alisha agreed.
“So, what did you decide?” Hadley asked, waiting Alisha’s decision, as if it decided his fate.
“I’ve agreed to marry you per your terms.” Alisha told Hadley.
“Great! You won’t regret this, Alisha and you’re a life-saver!” Hadley told Alisha, as he smiled at Chelsea.
Chelsea agreed, although it met Alisha would be Hadley’s wife, albeit in name only. At least she got him where it mattered most: in her bed, and not Alisha.
“So, when will the wedding take place?” Chelsea asked.
“As soon as possible. Mother insists on it.” Hadley told the two of them.
“Well, how about next week?” Alisha asked.
“Sounds good.” Hadley said. “I’ll let mother know, and then she will get started on the wedding details.”
“I won’t have to plan the wedding?” Alisha asked with a sigh of relief. She was busy with school and everything. She planned to get her degree to distract her from this marriage since Hadley would be busy with Chelsea. She just hoped no one would find out the real intentions regarding this marriage.
“Hadley, what happens if someone finds out the real motive for this marriage?” Alisha asked him.
“It better not, or you and I are both screwed!” Hadley told her.
“I don’t have any intention saying otherwise. I’ll play the dutiful wife whenever I’m needed. But that’s as far as it goes.” Alisha told him and Chelsea, who seem glad to know this.
“Okay. We’re all agreed as to the plan on this marriage.” Hadley said. “Oh, Alisha, mother will want to meet with you to discuss the dress you will be wearing.”
“The dress I’ll be wearing?” Alisha asked.
“Yes, she will want you to wear the dress she wore when she married my father.” Hadley told her.
“Okay. Let me know when.” Alisha told him. “Well, I’ve got to be somewhere now.”
Alisha left Chelsea and Hadley to themselves as she went on her way to her next appointment. The dean of the university she was trying to get in.
Chapter 6
Hadley kissed Chelsea good night as she bade him good will the next morning on his wedding day to her best friend, Alisha.
He couldn’t believe that it had come to this. He had to marry a woman he didn’t love because his mother didn’t approve of the woman he did love. No one could find out the argument he had with his mother in the hospital after his accident while on his way home after his mother called him about his brother in Afghanistan.
After two days in the hospital suffering from injuries from the blast, Hadley’s brother, Tyler, died from his injuries. Hadley and his mother had a terrible argument over his future plans with Chelsea. His mother told Hadley she didn’t approve of Chelsea and told him she would make sure he never got his inheritance if he married her.
Hadley had to get his inheritance. He wanted to leave. And leave with Chelsea. But he couldn’t do it if he didn’t have his inheritance. So he came up with a plan to marry Alisha out of convenience in order to get the inheritance so he could be free to be with Chelsea when the inheritance came in.
But unbeknownst to Hadley, his mother had a codicil put in that would make Hadley stay married to whoever he chose for a year before he got the inheritance.
The day of the wedding was here and Hadley text Chelsea: “Babe, I miss you.”
“I miss you too!” Chelsea text back.
“Can’t wait to see you after the wedding.” Hadley text back.
“Me too.”
Hadley then text Alisha to see if she had arrived at the chapel yet: “You there yet?”
“I just pulled up to the chapel. Headed in to get ready.” Alisha text back.
“Great! Meet you at the altar.” Hadley text back.
As Hadley put his cell back into his pocket, he wished that he was saying that to Chelsea, but he would go along with the sham of a marriage. Soon, he would be marrying Chelsea. Just as soon as he got his inheritance on his 18th birthday in a month.
Guests were arriving for the wedding as Chelsea sat in the back row watching her best friend marry the man she loved. At least it was in name only.
As the pianist played the wedding march, the flower girl, Hadley’s two-year-old niece, Aysha, headed the march, followed by Hadley’s sister, Taylor, who was the matron-of-honor, as requested by (more like demanded) Hadley’s mother.
Finally, it was time for the bride to head down the aisle. There she was! Alisha looked ravishing in the dress that Hadley’s mother demanded she wear. Chelsea pictured her wearing it and got a little jealous at the thought.
The couple said their vows and after the minister pronounced them husband and wife, Hadley gave his bride a kiss on the lips, to which Chelsea felt a pang of jealousy watching them.
The newly married couple headed down the church aisle as husband and wife and headed to the country club where there was wedding reception waiting for the couple.
“I can’t believe my sister is married?” Ellis said to his new brother-in-law, Hadley, when he saw them at the country club.
“Nice to meet you too, Ellis.” Hadley said to him.
As the reception was in full swing, Chelsea showed up to see how it was going and was met with disdain by Hadley’s mother.
“What are you doing here?!”
“I wanted to congratulate my friend on her wedding.” Chelsea said.
“Well, this is a family party! And you’re not welcome here!” Mrs. Jamison said, turning up her nose at Chelsea, showing her disapproval.
“She’s my best friend!” Chelsea protested.
“Alisha is having the time of her life! She doesn’t need you anymore!”
“I can’t wish my best friend the best?”
“Get out of here before I have you thrown out!” Mrs. Jamison demanded.
Chelsea left before Hadley’s mother could throw her out, but not before texting Hadley why she left.
“Sorry, but your mother wouldn’t allow me inside the country club to see you at the reception.”
“K babe. C U 2nite @ R secret place! ” Hadley text back, before joining Alisha at her side for their first dance at husband and wife.
While Hadley and Alisha paid their dues at the wedding reception, Chelsea was at the hotel preparing for her night with Hadley on his wedding night.
Chapter 7
After the wedding ceremony, Alisha went off alone to the beach so Hadley and Chelsea could have some time in the hotel room. Alisha wondered if it was all worth it—pretending to be in a scam of a marriage for a billion dollars? Pretending be Hadley’s wife so he could spend it with Chelsea, his true love. It was sad Hadley’s parents didn’t approve of Chelsea. Poor Hadley! He had to pretend to be “in love” with Alisha while secretly see Chelsea behind Alisha’s back?
And it would have all worked out—if it hadn’t been for her little brother, Ellis, finding her alone on the beach on her “wedding night.”
“Hey sis, alone on your wedding night?” Ellis questioned.
“I needed some alone time.” Alisha lied.
Ellis knew his sister well, and he knew something was up.
“What’s up, sis?”
“Nothing brother dear.” Alisha insisted.
“I’m not buying it, sister dear.” Ellis told her. “I know something’s up, and I intend to get to the bottom of it.”
Ellis took off before Alisha could stop him. The only thing she knew to do was get to the hotel room and inform Hadley and Chelsea before Ellis found them alone together.
But Alisha was too late! Ellis had beat her to the hotel room and found Hadley and Chelsea alone, making love.
“Ha! I knew something was up!” Ellis shouted out, giving Hadley and Chelsea the shock of their lives. “Cheating on my sister…and on your wedding night!”
“And you’re not going to tell anyone, are you Ellis?” Hadley told him, more as a threat than a request.
“Wrong! I intend to expose this sham of a marriage!”
Alisha arrived to find Ellis in an argument with Hadley. While Hadley was arguing with Ellis, Chelsea gave Alisha a disapproving look.
“You put this in motion?” Chelsea accused Alisha. “You wanted this to happen?”
“How can you say that?!”
“You wanted Hadley for yourself?!”
“I did this to help you?!”
“Like hell you did!”
“It’s not my fault Hadley’s parents didn’t approve of you with their son. It wasn’t my idea to marry Hadley have him sneak away with you!”
“But he is married to you! You’ve wanted Hadley all along!”
Hadley’s father knocked on the door to see his son and heard the argument inside Alisha and Hadley’s hotel room.
“Son, is this true? Was this marriage all a scam?”
No had any words as Hadley and Chelsea looked at Alisha with hurt in their eyes. They both believed Alisha had planned this from the beginning. How was Alisha going to make them understand the truth?
Chapter 8
Alisha ran to the garden outside Hadley’s room. She couldn’t believe that both Hadley and Chelsea would accuse her of scheming to get Hadley? She did them a favor? She left them alone to be together in secret, didn’t she? Chelsea was the one who got to be with Hadley alone? What did she get? Marriage in name only?
But just as she sulked in the garden, she was seen by the maid and brought to Hadley’s father.
“Master Jamison, I found the bride in the gardens?” the maid said.
“Thank you, Claire.” Mr. Jamison said.
Alisha wondered what Mr. Jamison would do to her now that the secret was out. After she was reprimanded by Hadley’s father, she vowed to find out who ratted her out!
“Miss Thompkins, I want to know why you schemed to be my son’s wife?” Mr. Jamison demanded. “Was it the money you were after?!”
“No!” Alisha defended her actions.
“Well, I intend to have this marriage annulled due to your actions!”
But Hadley came down when he heard from the maid that she found Alisha in the gardens.
“You won’t do anything of the sort, father!” Hadley threatened. “I love Alisha! That’s why we married.”
“You can’t possibly love her after what she’s done?!”
“But I do!” Hadley said convincingly.
“Well, okay, son, I believe you.”
“Thank you father.”
Hadley and Alisha went back upstairs to his suite of rooms to discuss new arrangements.
“Now what are you going to do?” Alisha quizzed Hadley.
“I got you out of your jam.” Hadley said.
“But now we have to share a room.”
“What? You have to share a room?” Chelsea asked the two of them.
“Hadley had to convince his father he married me because he loved me.” Alisha told Chelsea. “Now we have to share a room to make it convincing.”
“Look, there are many rooms in my suite. You can have your own bed and I’ll share a bed with Chelsea.” Hadley reasoned.
“Okay. I just hope no one will check on us tonight?” Alisha said unsure.
“My parents never look in on me.” Hadley said.
But as they went to their respective beds, the maid was doing some last minutes chores before retiring herself when she discovered that Hadley was in bed with someone other than Alisha.

Playing with Fire

14-year-old Madison Parker is just starting high school. But she has one problem: she has always been jealous of her gorgeous older sister, Brittany. She gets excellent grades, has all the guys falling all over her, and is super-popular at school. When Madison sets her sights on the most handsome and richest guy at school, senior Noah Roberts. The problem is, he only has eyes for her sister. Heartbroken and jealous over Noah’s interest in her sister, Maddie makes a pact to ruin her Brittany’s relationship with Noah so she can have him all to herself. But someone else ruins Madison’s plan to win Noah’s affections: another boy, Micah Jenkins, whom Madison sees only as a nerd. Will Madison land Noah ’s heart, or see true love in Micah before it’s too late?
Chapter 1
“Why do you always get the bathroom first!” Madison screamed angrily at her older sister Brittany.
“Because I’m the older sister.” Brittany told her younger sister calmly.
“Because you think you’re prettier.” Madison muttered under her breath.
“What did you say?” Brittany demanded.
“Nothing, Brit.” Madison replied back.
“What’s all the fighting?!” Mrs. Parker yelled upstairs from the kitchen.
“Nothing mom!” Brittany yelled back to let their mother know all was fine.
“Let me know when you’re through with the bathroom!” Madison yelled at her sister before heading to her bedroom and slamming her door.
It wasn’t fair, Madison thought to herself. Brittany always got everything. She was prettier and popular with all the guys. She got the biggest room and always got the bathroom first in the mornings. The teachers fawned all over Brittany, and the worst thing is she got all the same teachers Brittany had and they expected Chelsea to be like Brittany. Just once, Madison wanted a boyfriend just like Brittany.
“Hey, Mad-! You can have the bathroom now.” Brittany yelled through Madison’s door.
“Thanks Brit!” Madison said sarcastically.
Madison headed into the bathroom to take a shower. She hung her new outfit her mother had bought for the school year: her favorite blue pleated skirt and white satin blouse with baby blue sweater vest over the hook behind the bathroom door.
Madison turned on the water and took off her bathrobe and hopped into the shower. She screamed loudly as she felt the cold water on her body. “Damn you, Brittany! Always hogging the hot water!” Madison said loudly. “Always taking too long so I have to shower in cold water!”
Madison hurried up her cold shower, put on her skirt, blouse and pulled her long brunette tresses into a clip and headed downstairs to join her parents and sister for breakfast.
When Madison got downstairs, it was just her mother washing dishes.
“Where did everyone go?” Madison asked her mother.
“Your father had an early meeting and Brittany said she couldn’t wait for you and headed off to school.” Mrs. Parker told her youngest daughter.
“That figures!”
“Well, honey, if you weren’t so slow in the mornings. . .” Mrs. Parker chastised her.
“Really, mom!”
“Sit down and eat honey.”
“I’m not hungry!” Madison said as she grabbed her bag and headed off for the bus stop.
Madison waited for the bus to pick her up for her first day of school at Ridgemont High where she was a sophomore and Brittany was a junior. When the bus dropped Madison off in front of her high school, the new guy at school caught Madison’s eye.
Chapter 2
Madison didn’t see the new guy looking at her as she got off the bus. Angry at her sister, Madison headed for her locker to get her books, notebook and pencil bag that she would need for her next two classes—she didn’t come to her locker after every class to beat the crowd that was always maddening.

Noah Roberts, who had seen Madison get off the bus, arrived at his locker, which was right next to Madison.
“Wow! Imagine my locker right next to yours!” Noah said. “I tried to get your attention when I saw you earlier, but you stormed off.”
“Sorry. I didn’t see you.” Madison apologized, noticing his gorgeous blue eyes.
“Yes. I wanted to know how to get a hold of a Brittany Parker?”
“Brittany?” Madison looked sick.
“Yes. We met in the library yesterday.” Noah explained. “I didn’t get her phone number to ask her out.”
“You think I can give you her phone number?” Madison said sarcastically. “Do I have her number tattooed to my forehead?”
“Sorry I asked.” Noah said, as he closed his locker and left Madison standing there bewildered as she thought to herself, “Why do all the gorgeous guys always go for her sister? What does Brittany have that she doesn’t?

Brittany’s study hall was on the way to Madison’s English class and when she peaked inside the classroom, she noticed that Noah had the same class and was sitting next to Brittany holding hands.

Madison wondered if she should make a play for Noah and enter a rivalry for his affections against Brittany. She just knew she would make Noah happier than Brittany ever could.
Brittany knew that Noah liked hanging out in the library. So she decided she would wait for him in there in hopes he might be alone and without Brittany.

Excited by her plan, Madison walked onto her English class and waited for lunch break to head to the library to put her plan in motion. She would make Noah see how much better for him she was than Brittany.
Chapter 3
Madison entered the library after school with hopes of meeting Noah alone for study. But her hopes were dashed when she spotted Noah holding Brittany’s hand as they studied together. She couldn’t believe that Brittany had beat her to the library? Since when did Brittany ever study? She was way to popular to study and always got some nerd to do her schoolwork for her? So what was up with the sudden interest in studying?
Madison left the school library and decided to walk the 2-mile walk home. She needed time to think about her next plot to break up her sister and Noah. There was no way she would let Brittany land the new hunk in school. No way in hell! Madison vowed.
Madison’s thoughts were interrupted by the loud muffler of a car going by. Then it stopped just ahead of her, as a hand waved in Madison’s direction to get in. Madison thought to herself, “Just my luck. Some pervert wanting to kidnap and rape her!”
But as Madison cautiously approached the car, she breathed a sigh of relief when she realized it was just Micah and his buddies.
“Madison, get in. We will give you a lift home.” Micah said, offering her a ride.
“Thank you, Micah!” Madison said as she hopped into the backseat with Micah.
“So do you want to go to the club with us?” Micah asked her.
“I’d really like to go, but I have to study.” Madison told him.
“C’mon, Maddie. Just for for a few hours.” Micah encouraged her. “Just to get your mind off your troubles.”
Micah could see that something was weighing heavily on Madison. That’s how much he cared about her. He knew her well.
“Thanks. Maybe I will. But just for a couple hours.” Madison told him and his buddies, Richie Clemmons and Sandy Buchanan.
“You won’t regret it.” Richie promised her.
“So where did you get the wheels?” Madison asked Micah.
“It’s my older brother’s, Jimmy.” Micah told her.
“He let you use his car?” Madison quizzed.
“You could say that.” Micah said as he winked at Richie and Sandy.
“So where is this club we are going to?” Madison asked, breaking the ice.
“It’s a new club that just opened up.” Micah told her. “It’s hip and everyone’s going.”
“Yeah, I heard about it. I wanted to check it out but my friend couldn’t go and I didn’t want to go alone.” Madison confessed.
“Well, you have us.” Micah said as he laid a hand on Madison’s shoulder.
“Thanks Micah for being a friend.” Madison said gratefully.
“Just want you to know how much I care.” Micah replied back.
Micah and Madison just looked at each other when Sandy pulled into The Jamestown Club’s parking lot and turned off the ignition. The four teens got out and headed into the club. As they blended in with the crowd, Madison spotted Noah and Brittany.
“How did they get here so fast?” Madison asked herself.
Chapter 4
Madison danced with Micah, despite how much she wished she were dancing with Noah. Damn you Brittany! Madison thought. Why do you get all the hot guys! She smiled at Micah letting him think she was enjoying herself, but deep down, she was miserable. Brittany was not going to win this war. She would have Noah, no matter the cost!
Madison saw her chance when Brittany went off with her bestie, Claire, to the little girls’ room to freshen up their make-up. Brittany was so plastic, she wouldn’t be caught dead without her make-up.
“Uh, Micah, could you be a dear and get me something to drink?” Madison asked Micah. She hoped she would have a little time alone with Noah before Brittany came back and claimed Noah as hers.
“Sure, babe.” Micah said, as if he were her personal butler.
“Thanks.” Madison said. And then she quickly headed over to Noah, who looked bummed ever since Brittany left his side.
“This seat taken?” Madison asked, as she pulled out the chair.
“Not at the moment.” Noah said.
“Brittany not chained to your hip?” Madison said sarcastically.
“No. I can’t do that to her.” Noah said. “I have too much respect for her.”
“Hmmmm, someone who actually has respect for my older sister?” Madison thought.
“That’s my sister!” Madison said. “So, Noah, are you going to the harvest ball this weekend with Brittany?”
“Sadly, no!” Noah said.
“Really?” Madison thought. “Now’s her chance to ask him before Brittany comes back!”
“But you’re not going alone?” Madison asked him.
“I have no date lined up, if that’s what you’re asking.” Noah replied.
“Noah, I was. wondering . . .” but she didn’t get the chance to ask him because Brittany showed up looking fresh and as beautiful as ever.
“Damn you, Brittany!” Madison thought to herself.
“Maddie, I see you were keeping Noah company while I was gone.” Brittany said.
“Well, I didn’t want Noah to feel lonely out of your presence.”
“Well, thank you little sister.” Brittany said. “Now run along and do your own thing.”
“Yes. I see Micah has the drink I asked him to get for me.” Madison said, giving an excuse to leave.
“Ta-ta!” Brittany said as Madison made her way over to Micah.
“Just wait, Brittany! Noah won’t be yours for long! Soon, he will be all mine!” Madison thought.
And she went over to Micah and pretended to enjoy herself as if she were having the time of her life, while despising the very being of her older sister.
Chapter 5
Madison got the idea to romance Micah to make Noah jealous. Noah was amazing! Madison just had to have him. He was so dreamy. The thought of those luscious lips on hers—it made her blood boil to think Brittany had them on hers! She just had to get Noah! Nothing else mattered.
So, the plan was to “date” Micah to make Noah jealous. And once she “hooked” Noah, then she could just dump Micah. But unbeknownst to Madison, Micah had feelings for her.
“Micah, would you like to go the Sadie Hawkins’ Dance with me this Saturday?” Madison said when Micah answered his parents landline.
“Ah, yeah! That would, like, be so rad!” Micah said, in his hippie-80s tone. Micah had been in love with Madison since, like, kindergarten. But Madison always ignored him like the plague, taunting him in front of the other classmates.
Madison didn’t know it, but she would be playing with fire in her plot to use Micah to make Noah jealous.
“Great!” Madison said. “You won’t regret going!”
Madison hung up and went to bed dreaming of Noah, “soon, Brittany, Noah will be all mine.”
The next day, Madison arrived at school upset to see Brittany walking hand-in-hand with Noah at school. Madison thought she would vomit, but her bestie, Kirstie, saved her by pulling her into the little girl’s room.
“Madison, you won’t believe it!” Kirstie exclaimed, unable to keep it a secret.
“What won’t I believe?” Madison asked.
Noah and your sister broke up!”
“No, they didn’t. I just saw them I the hallway?”
“Well, I heard them fighting just a few minutes ago, and heard your sister say it was over.”
Smiling on the inside to hide her enthusiasm, “That’s too bad!” Madison said.
“That’s great, because now I can go after Dreamy Noah.” Kirstie revealed.
“Yeah. You do that.” Madison said, as Kirstie walked away happily.
“Cuz you won’t land Noah.” Madison said to herself.
She couldn’t believe Kirstie thought she even had a chance with Noah. Boy would she be sad when Noah became hers.
Madison went home to pick out her dress for the dance on Saturday, but all the dresses she had were so drab. So she went to her sister, Brittany’s room to look in her closet. It just wasn’t fair. Brittany had all the pretty dresses.
And she got the hand-me-downs from Brittany. So what if they were pretty. By the time she got them, they were out of fashion.
She had to persuade her mother to buy her a new dress for the dance.
“Mom, can we go shopping?” Madison said in her sweet, sing-song voice.
“Sure, honey, what do you want to shop for?” her mother asked, thinking it was for some fab CD or some latest fad.
“For a new dress for the dance?” Madison asked.
“Honey, you have so many?”
“Yeah, but they’re Brittany’s hand-me-downs!” she pointed out.
“Honey, there isn’t money in the budget for a dress.” Her mother pointed out. “That’s why you get your sister’s dresses.”
“Yeah, and I look like a dweeb too.” Madison said saddened. “Brittany always gets the best of everything.”
Madison went up to her room and pouted. She just had to get a new dress. She had to look fabulous. She had to catch Noah’s eye! And she couldn’t with the dresses she had.
Then it hit her! Chelsea! She had the most amazing wardrobe. Better than her sister.
“Chelsea, I have a favor to ask you?” she said when Chelsea picked up her iPhone 8.
“Can I borrow one of your dresses for Saturday?”
“You don’t have any?”
“Yeah, but they’re so dull.”
“Yeah, come on over and pick one out.” Chelsea said. She didn’t care. She got a new outfit every day.
“Great. You’re an awesome friend.” Madison said before hanging up and heading over to Chelsea’s house. Things were looking up. She might have a shot landing Noah.
Chapter 6
Madison arrived at Chelsea’s home and the two girls went up to Chelsea’s room to look at dresses.
Madison was in awe, or you might say…jealous…whenever she was in Chelsea’s home. Her family was wealthy…the old kind of wealth, handed down from Chelsea’s great-grandfather as each son—that is, Chelsea’s grandfather and her father taking over the family business, a successful coffee importing store. Madison often heard people speculate whether it was really coffee Chelsea’s family business was in, or something illegal, but no one could prove it. Chelsea had the finest fads and fashions in her bedroom and wardrobe.
“Oh, Chelsea, may I wear this one?” Madison asked holding up a blue sequin dress to her body and looking into the full-length mirror.
“Sure, in fact, you can have it!” Chelsea said. “I have so many dresses.”
“Really! Thanks!” Madison said appreciatively. “How does it look?”
“How do you think Noah will like me in it?”
“You’re smashing, a true princess.”
Madison’s cell rang. As she picked it up she saw it was her mother, “Hello, mother?”
“Madison, where are you? You were supposed to be home a half hour ago?”
“I’m sorry mother. I’m on my way home now.” Madison said hanging up. “Sorry, Chelsea, but I gotta go.”
“Any time, girl.” Chelsea said as she walked Madison and the dress out the front door.
Madison arrived home to find her mother upset that she was going to miss the ladies meeting because Madison was late to watch her baby brother, Jonathon.
“I’m home mother.”
“It’s about time! You know I wanted you home at 5 p.m.!” her mother grilled her.
“Yeah, to babysit Jonathon!” Madison sulked.
“Everyone’s busy, Madison. You’re the only who could do it.” Her mother reasoned.
“Yeah. Dad has his job and Brittany has her boyfriends.” Madison said under her breath.
“Take care Madison.” Her mother said kissing her cheek as she headed out for her meeting.
“She was always stuck watching Jonathon. Never Brittany.” Madison sulked in the mirror. “Damn you, Britttany! You won’t know what hit you and I land Noah!”
Madison went up to find Jonathon sleeping in his crib, so she went to try on the dress that Chelsea gave her to see how it fit.

Dialogue #1
Valerie sits down at the bar just to thing (her usual thing to do) when a gorgeous hunk (played by Billy Flynn) walks in and starts a conversation….
Jared: Name’s Jared.
Valerie: Valerie.
Jared: May I order you a drink?
Valerie: Thanks. No.
Jared: You just sit here not drinking?
Valerie: Got a problem with that?’
Jared: No.
(Valerie is silently hoping, despite how sexy the guy is, that he will go away…)
Jared: What do you do you like to do for fun?
Valerie: Sire, I don’t even know you.
Jared: Isn’t that what people do to get to know each other?
Valerie: Yes. If that’s what they want.
Jared: Well, I just want to get to know you.
Valerie: Sorry. I just noticed the tie. I have an appointment to get to.
(Valerie grabs her purse beside her and leaves Jared sitting there.)

Dialogue #2
(Valerie came back to her spot at the bar hoping Jared wouldn’t be back.)
Jared: Why, hello again!
Valerie: You again!
Jared: You didn’t think you’d be rid of me so easily?
Valerie: Kinda.
Jared: Got news for you..I’m not that easy to get rid of.
Valerie: I figured that out.
Jared: So, care to start over?
Valerie: I just won’t be able to get rid of you?
Jared: Nope!
(As much as Valerie cared to admit, Jared was easy on the eyes. What would it hurt to get to know this Jared person?)

Dialogue #3
(Valerie is waiting for Jared, sure that he’ll show up, but he’s later than usual.)
Valerie: You’re late!
Jared: Angry?
Valerie: No.
Jared: That’s not what your tone implies?
Valerie: You’re just here a lot earlier?
Jared: Oh I see. Sorry. Business meeting that ran late.
Valerie: That’s o.k.
Jared: But if it’s any consolation, I was thinking about you the time during the meeting.
Valerie: Gee! That’s sweet!
Jared: So, what are you drinking?
Valerie: You’re signature drink.
(Jared was impressed Valerie was warming up to him by ordering his drink.)
Jared: Did you know, I came up with that drink?
Valerie: Is that why it’s called the ‘Jared’s Delight?’
Jared: Yeppers!
Valerie: Well, it’s a good taste.
Jared: Thank you.
Valerie: Is that what you do…come up with drinks?
Jared: Yes. I’m in marketing.
Valerie: So. You invent drinks and market them?
Jared: You got it.
Jared: So, Valerie, what do you do?
Valerie: I’m a writer.
Jared: What do you write about?
Valerie: Mostly romance.
Jared: Romance, huh?
Valerie: Sometimes I’ll write a mystery.
Jared: Oh, geez! Look at the time!
(Jared heads out as Valerie waits for another chat with the mysterious Jared.)

Dialogue #4
(Valerie hadn’t heard from Jared in a couple days, but she saw him sitting in a booth at the coffee shop when she went in to get her daily latte.)
Jared: Valerie?
Valerie: Jared?
Jared: Come sit down.
Valerie: I missed talking with you.
Jared: Me too. But been real busy.
Valerie: I know how that is.
Jared: So, you been writing?
Valerie: Yeah. Finished my book.
Jared: Congratulations! What’s next?
Valerie: Another romance novel.
Jared: Wow! You like romance.
Valerie: What can I say? I’m a sucker for romance.
Jared: Oh, geez! I got to go. Nice talking with you Valerie.
(Valerie takes out her laptop and begins her new romance novel after Jared leaves.)

Writing Prompt: Inside the Museum After Hours

You hide in the museum bathrooms until the building is closed and everyone is gone. What is the first thing you do? Do you touch everything you possibly can or go exploring in the back rooms? Don’t forget to watch out for security guards!

Chapter 1

This morning would be busy as I had to go to the local museum to interview the curator on the murder of an employee. But either the curator didn’t have any idea about the murder or he was hiding something from me. The detective in me decided on the latter and knew I’d have to do something drastic to get the story I wanted.
That’s when I decided to hide in the bathroom until the museum closed. I had to wait a half an hour for the curator to close up before I could do any investigating, so I pulled out my tablet and jotted some notes on the process would take once I was free to roam around.
I heard the curator say to the security guard that he was leaving. Somehow, I would have to work around the security guard so he wouldn’t see me lurking around. I waited another 10 minutes before heading out of the bathroom to let the guard leave the premises.
I cautiously walked out to see if the coast was clear and seeing no one around, I went on my way investigating the museum.
The front room held no clues into the murder, so I ventured to the back rooms and what found was astounding…a secret room that led to an underground path. I followed the path for about 30 minutes until I came upon another secret room.
This room was some sort of ceremonial chamber. Looking around the room I discovered it was the room to local chapter of the gentlemen’s club. But what were they doing?
Looking around, it appeared they were a cult…then, I saw her…a man locked in a cage. I quickly unlocked the cage only to find he was dead. First a murder of an employee; now a man inside a cage…dead! What was going on here?!
I intended to find out….one way or another!

Cassidy Jenkins hadn’t seen her childhood friend, Daniella Thompson, since their high school days. When she suddenly receives a call saying that she is coming for a visit, Cassidy is overjoyed. But Daniella has learned of Cassidy’s recent marriage to Tyler Jenkins, and is jealous of Cassidy’s happiness. When Daniella tries to come between Cassidy and Tyler by making advances towards Cassidy’s husband, Tyler. When Cassidy discovers Daniella’s secret and the real reason Daniella is here, can Cassidy forgive her friend?
Chapter 1

“Hello?” Cassidy Jenkins answered her cell.
“Cassidy?” Daniella asked.
“Daniella?” Cassidy asked surprised to hear from her childhood friend. “I was just wondering about you?”
“I just want to let you know that I was coming for a visit.”
“You are? That’s great, Daniella! You can meet my new husband, Tyler!” Cassidy exclaimed excitedly.
“Yeah, that would be nice!” Daniella replied in a somber tone.
“Well, Daniella, I hate to break off our call, but I have to be getting to work now.” Cassidy told her.
“Yeah, sure! See you in a few days!” Daniella said, hanging up.
Cassidy hung up and began to get ready for work as a paralegal in her father’s law firm, she couldn’t believe she would see Daniella again. It’s been so long—too long! One thing bothered her though—their rivalry over the quarterback James Mitchell, whom both Cassidy and Daniella both had eyes for. It had been an ugly rivalry to which Daniella won the heart of James when the two married right after they graduated high school. Cassidy never heard from Daniella again—until now!

Daniella had packed her few belongings that James had let her have. When Daniella and James first married, it seemed the two were inseparable. They were the picture of happiness—that is for the first two months. Then James changed. He became possessive over Daniella. He controlled her every move, from the friends she had to the family she could talk to.
Things escalated further when James began beating Daniella and leaving bruises on her, even putting her in the hospital a few times. Daniella thought she was a dead woman—until a month ago when Daniella finally had enough and shot and killed James when he was sleeping.
The next morning, she woke in a daze to the news of Cassidy’s marriage to celebrity architect to the stars, Tyler Jenkins. After Daniella’s ordeal the last 10 years, Daniella seethed with anger toward Cassidy. How could she end up happy when she was miserable? It wasn’t fair that Cassidy got what she wanted and she ended up in a nightmare of a marriage. Daniella blamed Cassidy for her marriage woes. After all, Cassidy gave up on James way to easily, and Daniella wanted Cassidy to pay.
That’s when Daniella made up her mind to ruin Cassidy’s happiness at all costs. Daniella intended to steal Tyler away from Cassidy and make Cassidy pay for everything she went through. Her troubled life was Cassidy’s fault.
Chapter 2
“Dani!” Cassidy shrieked with excitement when she spotted her friend in the airport while waiting for her.
“Cassi.” Dani shrieked with fake excitement as she gave her friend a hug, while secretly eyeing Cassidy’s husband, Tyler.
“Oh, Dani, it’s been so long.” Cassidy said sadly. “How did we ever lose touch with each other?”
“I know.” Daniella lied. “I’m sorry for everything.’
Daniella and Cassidy talked about old times while waiting for her luggage at the baggage claim. When it finally came out, Daniella pointed it out and Tyler, like the true gentleman, picked up Daniella’s luggage and carried it to his and Cassidy’s car. Daniella was amazed that they had a driver. No, more like jealous!
As Max drove Cassidy, Tyler and Daniella back to Tyler and Cassidy’s mansion, Tyler poured Cassidy and Daniella a drink from the mini bar in the limousine. As the three enjoyed the drink, Daniella thought about her revenge on Cassidy and how to make the moves on Tyler. He was a man Daniella could fall for with his rugged good looks and chiseled features, those gorgeous blue eyes the color of the ocean—Daniella could get lost in them forever.
“Dani?” Cassidy spoke, breaking Daniella free of her thoughts.
“What? I’m sorry Cassi. I must have been lost in thought.” Daniella lied, as she continued to think about having Tyler all to herself.
“What do you want to do first when we get home?” Cassidy repeated.
“Oh, surprise me!” Daniella told her friend.
“Well, why don’t you two take a swim out in our pool while I make you two some lunch.” Tyler suggested.
“That’s sounds good, honey.” Cassidy said, giving him a kiss on the lips.
Max had just pulled into the drive of Cassidy and Tyler’s mansion. Tyler grabbed Daniella’s bags and followed Cassidy and Daniella up the front steps to the front door as Cassidy pushed the code for the security alarm.
Once inside, Cassidy led Daniella to her room—actually wing—that she would have all to herself. Amazed as she was by Cassidy’s success, Daniella couldn’t wait to take all of this from Cassidy for payment for all her hurt.
Daniella still couldn’t believe that Cassidy managed to get everything while she lost all she had.
“I’ll wait for you out by the pool.” Cassidy said to Daniella.
“Okay. I’ll get dressed and be out there in a few.” Daniella promised.
But first, Daniella had to put the first part of her plan into motion.
Chapter 3
Daniella dressed in her sexiest bikini…a blue bikini…and threw on her coverup. Daniella held her long locks up as she tried to decide whether she should put it up or let hang loose around her shoulders. After a few minutes, she decided she looked sexier with it hanging loose around her shoulders. Satisfied with her look, Daniella grabbed her cell and headed downstairs to meet Cassidy and Tyler out by their pool.
“What took you so long?” Cassidy asked her when Daniella finally emerged from the sliding glass door.
“Oh, just had to get ready.” Daniella expressed as she flung her coverup into the lounge chair and flipped her locks in Tyler’s direction.
“You. . .look nice.” Tyler commented, trying not to get excited by Daniella’s appearance, as hot as he thought she looked.
“Yeah, Daniella, you look great, as always.” Cassidy said, a bit jealous.
Daniella’s performance brought Cassidy back to their high school days. Daniella always seemed to get the guys, even the ones that Cassidy was interested in. She remembered how Daniella took advantage of the fact that she also liked James Mitchell and managed to land James before she could tell him how she felt. Now that she was married to Tyler, it seemed to Cassidy that Daniella was trying to do the same? But Cassidy shook it off thinking that Daniella was above that now. . .we were all adults. . .no time to play childish games we played back in high school.
Daniella went in the pool giving a show for Tyler. And as Tyler loved Cassidy, he couldn’t help but look at Daniella. She was hot and sexy, not that Cassidy wasn’t either. But there was something about Daniella. . .something that he couldn’t take his eyes off of her. He felt guilty for the way he looked at her. . .like he was cheating on Cassidy. . .but. . .he just couldn’t take his eyes off her.
Daniella swam in Cassidy’s pool, all the while, watching Tyler. She liked that he couldn’t take his eyes off her. . .her plan was working. Soon, Tyler would be all hers. And Cassidy would be left out in the cold. . .just as Cassidy deserved. . .
Cassidy, not wanting to watch Daniella’s obvious game, made an excuse to go into the house and get some snacks for them to munch on. When she got into the house, Cassidy opened up the refrigerator and took out the ribs that Tyler would barbecue for their dinner. Cassidy knew Daniella liked barbecued ribs. She placed the ribs on the cart along with the barbecue sauce for the ribs, the spatula, and salt.
When she brought the ribs outside for Tyler to start grilling, she couldn’t help but notice Daniella was hanging all over Tyler as he fired up the grill. Even after a swim, Daniella looked great. She couldn’t help but think that Daniella was after Tyler. . .she hoped she was wrong. . .but she just wasn’t so sure.
“So, Dani, what brings you out here?” Tyler asked, trying to keep his eyes off her gorgeous body.
“My husband died recently and I needed a break.” Dani explained. “I haven’t seen Cassie in awhile so I thought ‘why not?’”
“Well, I think Cassie is glad to see you. . .and catch up.”
“So how did you and Cassie meet?” Dani asked with mock enthusiasm.
“Our jobs.” Tyler explained. “I was an architect to the stars and Cassie was an interior designer we were both working for the same celebrity on their house.”
“Was it love at first sight?”
“No, Cassie couldn’t stand me at first.”
“Oh, really?”
“It took me months to get Cassie to warm up to me.”
“Yeah, Cassie always did seem to be like that.” Daniella reflected back on their high school days.
“But I finally won her over and I couldn’t be happier.”
“Yeah, Cassie does seem quite happy.” Daniella remarked, a hint of jealousy in her voice.
Cassidy came out with the cart so Tyler to begin grilling the ribs. She couldn’t help that Daniella seemed a bit too comfortable chatting with Tyler.
“Hey, you two. . .are you hungry?” Cassidy asked, as if trying to break the ice.
“Yeah, it’s about time you brought those ribs out.” Tyler joked.
“Mmmmmm, my favorite.” Daniella remarked.
“I know. And Tyler makes the best ribs.” Cassidy told her.
“I can’t wait to try them.” Daniella licked her lips seductively, catching a glimpse of Tyler eyeing her.
After twenty minutes of uncomfortable silence watching Tyler grilled the ribs, Tyler finally brought the ribs to the table where Cassidy and Daniella were sitting.
“Ribs are ready!” Tyler announced.
“Yeah. I can’t wait!” Daniella said as Tyler put a rib smothered in barbecue sauce onto Daniella’s plate.
“Mmmmmm.” Daniella said, as she took a bite immediately. “These are so-o-o-o good, Tyler. Cassidy is right. You do make the best ribs.”
The three of them enjoyed dinner and spent a few more hours by the poolside before turning in for the night. As Cassidy watched Daniella head up to her wing, Cassidy and Tyler got into a heated spat.
“Really, Tyler?” Cassidy accused. “You couldn’t take your eyes off of her!”
“What do you mean, Cassie?!” Tyler defended himself.
“The way you looked at her?”
“She’s a beautiful woman, but that doesn’t mean I want her?!”
“She was doing it on purpose!” Cassidy accused. “She wants you! It’s our high school days all over again!”
“Oh, come on, Cassie! You’re paranoid!”
“I don’t think so!” Cassie warned Tyler. “She has an agenda and you’re it!”
“Don’t be silly, Cassie!” Tyler told her. “You know I only have eyes for you!”
“But you couldn’t take your eyes off Dani all afternoon!”
“I can’t take your accusations!” Tyler said, storming off.
Cassidy couldn’t help it. She knew Daniella was up to her old tricks. She couldn’t believe that Tyler couldn’t see it.
Chapter 4
Daniella couldn’t be happier as she listened to Cassidy and Tyler fighting. All she cared about was that her plan was working perfectly. Cassidy was making the usual assumptions she did back in high school. And Tyler didn’t believe her. Soon, Tyler would be all hers. . .and Cassidy would be left out in the cold. . .just where she belonged.

As Daniella made her way downstairs to work on the next plot in her scheme, Cassidy fumed upstairs after Tyler had marched out of their room and into one of the other rooms.

Tyler, on the other hand, decided he wasn’t going to lose any sleep over Cassidy’s paranoia. It was ridiculous that Daniella was coming on to him. She was just his wife’s friend from high school. He had no interest in her. Why couldn’t Cassidy see that?

As Tyler tried to sleep, he heard the door open and someone come in.

“Cassidy?” Tyler questioned the intruder coming in. “Come to your senses, did you?”

But there was no answer, and assuming the intruder left, Tyler tried to go back to sleep. But instead, he felt a warm hand caress his body, and assuming it was Cassidy, turned over and planted a kiss on her.

“I’m sorry, Tyler.” Daniella lied. “I had no idea there was anybody in here.”

“What are you doing in here?” Tyler said, when he realized it wasn’t Cassidy he just kissed.

“I had to find another room to sleep in.” was Daniella’s excuse. “The sheets in my bed were all wet when I went to pull down the blankets.”

“I’m sorry to hear that, Dani.” Tyler apologized.

“I’ll go check out what’s wrong.” Tyler told her. “Just to make sure there’s no leak.”

“No, you don’t have to do that.” Daniella told him. “I’m sure the sheets will be dry in the morning.”

“It’s no problem, really.” Tyler offered. “I pride myself on having a leak-proof home and if you have a leak, I need to fix it.”

“Can’t you do it in the morning?” Daniella asked him, hoping to buy some time before she could get back to her room.

“Okay, I will wait until morning.” Tyler promised her.

“Thank you, Tyler. You’re such a doll.” Daniella said sweetly.

“I think I will go sleep in my own room with my wife, where I belong.” Tyler said.

As Tyler went back up to his and Cassidy’s room, Daniella made her way back to her room and crawled into the bed, knowing it wouldn’t be long before she had Tyler right where she wanted him. . .and Cassidy would be alone. . .just like her.
Chapter 5
Cassidy woke to find Tyler sleeping next to her, snoring as loudly as ever. It kept Cassidy awake and she couldn’t sleep ever since Tyler came back into the room. Not wanting to give into Tyler, Cassidy got up and put on her bathrobe to prepare breakfast. Cooking always managed to make Cassidy feel better.
But when she got downstairs to the kitchen, Daniella was already there dressed in a sexy black dress, cooking breakfast.
“Daniella, what are you doing in my kitchen?” Cassidy demanded.
“Well, I saw how busy you and Tyler were, so I wanted to help out a little.”Daniella told her sweetly.
“Well, I don’t need your help.” Cassidy spat out. “Especially with you looking like that!”
“What’s wrong with how I look?” Daniella asked innocently.
“That dress?!” Cassidy raged. “How many people cook in a sexy black dress?!”
“Well, I had a prior commitment so I got ready and thought I would make you and Tyler dinner before I left.” Daniella explained in her sugar-sweet voice.
“Yeah, I bet!” Cassidy screamed at her. “Why don’t you admit you’re trying to take Tyler away from me!”
As Cassidy threw out accusations, Daniella continued cooking, remaining calm. Cassidy’s ranting woke Tyler, who was still asleep upstairs, came downstairs to see what all the commotion was.
“What is going on down here?!” Tyler exploded.
“I was just making you two some breakfast and Cassie just flew off the handle?” Daniella said in her sugary sweet voice. “And she flew into a rage.”
“Cassie, what is wrong with you?” Tyler asked. “She’s just making breakfast.”
“Dressed like that!”
“I told your wife that I had somewhere to go, but thought I would make you two some breakfast before I go.” Daniella explained as sweetly as possible.
“There, Cassie, she’s just making breakfast for us.” Tyler tried to get Cassie to be rational.
“She’s trying to take you away! Who makes breakfast in that attire!”
“Cassie, she just told us she had somewhere to be after making breakfast.” Tyler continued to reason with Cassie.
“You know what, Tyler, I’m leaving.” Cassie yelled. “If you’re going to take her side, you can have her!”
Cassidy stormed out of the house and to her car and drove off. She had to get out. Drive somewhere—anywhere, but at home. Daniella was ruining their life and Tyler couldn’t see it.
Meanwhile, Daniella had breakfast ready and on the table when Tyler came back. She was sitting at the table waiting for Tyler and Cassidy to join her.
“Breakfast is served.” Daniella told Tyler when he came back to the kitchen after failing to reason with Cassidy.
“Thanks, Daniella.” Tyler told her as he sat down to eat.
“Where’s Cassie?” Daniella asked him, secretly happy inside.
“She left.” Was all Tyler said.
“I’m sorry, Tyler.” Daniella said as she squeezed his hand.
“It’s not your fault.”
“Is there anything I can do?”
With Cassidy gone, it was time to make her move. Daniella soothed Tyler’s hand, as she inched her hand further up his arm, rubbing it soothingly. Enjoying the touch, Tyler let Daniella caress him, as he was hurting from Cassidy’s tirade.
Still hurting from Cassidy leaving so angrily and her irrational behavior, Tyler kissed Daniella. Daniella had Tyler right where she wanted him. Tyler grabbed Daniella and kissed her, as the two ended up in a passionate kiss.
While Daniella and Tyler were getting passionate, Cassidy was driving so fast as thoughts of her argument came back to her, making her more angry that Tyler would side with Daniella. The past was coming back to haunt her.
Daniella was coming between her and Tyler just like when they were in high school when Daniella came between her and any guy she was interested in.
Cassidy, seeing the oncoming car through her angry tears, swerved to the side of the road and went off into a ditch.
Chapter 6
As Daniela was busy seducing an unsuspecting Tyler, Cassidy lay unconscious in her car in the ditch with her head on the steering wheel.
A passerby who was making his usual jog, found Cassidy’s car and called 9-1-1 to get the paramedics on the scene.
Then he checked Cassidy’s wrist for a pulse and found one, although very faint.
The paramedics arrived on scene within 10 minutes and rushed to see how Cassidy was. They check her vitals: Temp—98.9, Pulse—110, Respirations—24, Blood Pressure—190/99, O2 sats—70 and falling fast.
The paramedics put an oxygen mask on Cassidy to help get more oxygen to Cassidy’s brain. They reported Cassidy’s condition to the hospital via radio before putting her in the ambulance for transport to the hospital.
“Do you know this lady?” the paramedic asked the jogger.
“No. I found her car while out on a jog.” The jogger asked.
“Well, does she have any identification?”
“I saw a purse in the car.” The jogger told the paramedic. “It said Cassidy Jenkins.”
“Thank you sir.” The paramedic said. “We will give her husband a call.”
As Cassidy was on her way to the hospital, the paramedic riding in the ambulance gave Tyler a call.
Back at Tyler’s home, Daniela was about to unbutton her blouse to give Tyler a show after kissing him passionately when the phone near the bed began ringing.
“I’m sorry, Daniela, but I must get this. It could be my employer.” Tyler said, feeling guilty about what he was about to do with his wife’s friend.
“Hello?” Tyler said, after picking up the phone by the bed.
“Mr. Jenkins?” the paramedic said.
“Yes, this Tyler Jenkins.”
“I’m afraid to tell you, but your wife is being taken to the hospital.”
“The hospital? What happened?” Tyler asked the paramedic.
“There’s been an accident. Your wife is holding her own, but is unconscious.”
“I’m on my way!” Tyler said, hanging up and pushing Daniela off the bed and putting his pants and shirt back on, making Daniela a little ticked off.
“Can’t you forget about Cassidy?” Daniela said selfishly.
“Who the hell are you?” Tyler accused. “I thought you were her best friend?”
“Oh fine. Have it your way.” Daniela said with irritation.
As Tyler left Daniela alone on the bed, Daniela felt hurt that Cassidy always seemed to win.
“Damn you, Cassidy!” Daniela said. “You won’t win this!”
Chapter 7
Daniela was left to sulk after Tyler fled to the hospital to see Cassidy. When he got there Cassidy was admitted to her room where she was resting peacefully. Or so the doctors and nurses thought. But Cassidy was having anything but a peaceful sleep. Despite being in a coma, Cassidy was wracked with nightmares that Tyler had left her for Daniela.
When Tyler held Cassidy’s hand, Cassidy’s eyes twitched. She wanted to wake up but something was preventing her from doing so.
Suddenly, Cassidy’s monitor started beeping and Cassidy was in cardiac arrest as doctors and nurses entered Cassidy’s room with a crash cart to begin CPR on Cassidy.
A nurse’s aide shuffled Tyler out of Cassidy’s room, despite Tyler’s objection to remain in the room.
Several minutes later—it seemed like an eternity to Tyler—the doctor came out to give Tyler the news:
“Cassidy was poisoned.”
“Poisoned?” Tyler asked in surprise. “Who would do that?” Then he thought of Daniela. Could she have done this?
“We have given your wife the antidote and are waiting to see if she responds to the treatment.” The doctor informed Tyler, just as Daniela arrived to check on her friend.
“Is Cassidy alright?” Daniela asked sweetly, almost too sweetly it made Tyler suspicious.
“Mr, Jenkins will give you the details.” The doctor told Daniela before walking away.
“Doctor, can I go see her?” Tyler asked the departing doctor.
Tyler felt a hand on his shoulder as Daniela tried to comfort him, but he pulled away from her.
“Leave me alone.”
“I just want to help.”
“After trying to seduce me?”
“I couldn’t help myself.” Daniela defended herself.
“I love my wife.”
“I know. And I’m sorry.”
“Well, if you’re so sorry then you’ll pack your things and leave our home.” Tyler lashed out at her.
“Okay. If that’s how you feel.”
Tyler didn’t say a word. He just left her standing there as he walked on to see Cassidy.
“Fine. Have it your way, Tyler! For now!” Daniela whispered to herself, as she went back to Tyler and Cassidy’s home and packed her things and then headed for a motel.
Chapter 8
Daniela didn’t feel the least bit sorry for her seduction attempt on Tyler. Cassidy deserved to lose Tyler and Daniela was determined to sleep with him and destroy Cassidy’s marriage, the way she destroyed her marriage.
Daniela flashed to the night before her husband, Stefan, and her fight the night before he died when he confronted her over what Cassidy had told him about cheating on him. It was a bitter fight between them that led to a heart attack that ultimately killed him.
It was from that moment on, that Daniela vowed revenge on Cassidy by seducing Tyler. She couldn’t believe that her best friend would rat her out about her one-night stand with an office worker. She told that secret to Cassidy in confidence. But little did Daniela know, it wasn’t Cassidy who told the secret to Daniela’s husband—the person who told Stefan not to tell Daniela who told him. That’s when Stefan lied and said it was Cassidy.
In an undisclosed location, a mystery figure was calculating his revenge as Daniela was driving to the hospital to visit Cassidy.
Daniela parked her car and checked in with the front desk at the hospital. Heading to Cassidy’s room, Daniela attempted to gain Cassidy’s forgiveness before Tyler could spill the beans about her seduction attempt.
And it was a good thing Tyler had to go to the office to meet with clients about their plans for the house he was designing for them.
“Cassidy.” Daniela said, knocking on Cassidy’s door.
“Daniela?” a groggy Cassidy said upon waking from a deep-drug –induced sleep.
“Hey, I’m sorry I haven’t visited. Been busy.”
“That’s okay.”
“So, how you been feeling.” Daniela said, breaking the ice between them.
“Lonely. I miss Tyler.” Cassidy said depressed.
“Well, I’m sure he’ll be by shortly.” Daniela encouraged her.
“Yeah.” Cassidy said unenthused after her and Tyler’s argument.
“Hey, he loves you.”
“Yeah. You think so?” Cassidy’s spirits perked up.
“Yeah. He told me so after a long discussion.”
Cassidy felt a little better after Daniela told her about Tyler.
“So, I just wanted to apologize for any inconvenience I may have cause you and Tyler?” Daniela told her.
“That’s okay. I forgive you.” Cassidy told her, as she fell for Daniela’s story.
“Friends?” Daniela said with crossed fingers behind her back.
“Friends.” Cassidy said as the two besties hugged each other.
“So when do you get to break this pop stand?”
“I don’t know. The doctor is due any time.”
“Well, when you do get out, what you say, we go for a burger and fries?” Daniela offered.
“Sounds good.” Cassidy agreed.
“Well, I’ll let you get some rest.” Daniela said as she headed for the door.
“Thanks, Dani.” Cassidy said before Daniela disappeared.
Daniela smiled knowing she had duped Cassidy into forgiving her. Cassidy was always a sucker for forgiveness. As Daniela got into her car and turned on the ignition, she was unaware that she was being followed.
